Sleep Dentistry

Sometimes anxiety is a feeling that comes hand in hand with a dental appointment. Often patients fear the dentist because they have highly sensitive teeth, personal space issues, a strong gag reflex and much more. They’ve tried the needles and the pills, but they can never seem to avoid the pain or discomfort that seems inevitable during a visit to the dentist. Thankfully, a revolution in dentistry has changed the way hundreds of people have felt about the dentist.

This new procedure is what dentists call Sleep Dentistry. With sleep dentistry, an anesthesiologist monitors your health and ensures your safety while the dental experts work to provide you the quality dental care you’ve always wanted but were too afraid of the dentist to get. Unlike conscious sedation, which is achieved through a pill, patients who are fully asleep can go through a dental visit painlessly and comfortably. You rest while the dental experts work. With sleep dentistry, patients with fears of the dentist can finally obtain that smile redesign they wanted or undergo a dental procedure they needed.

The highly skilled team at Dentistry by Design work hard at providing the comfort and quality that dental care should provide without the anxiety that comes with a dental visit. Dr. Ionescu provides comprehensive dental care to the community of Elk Grove with services including sedation dentistry. To find out more, visit his website at http://www.elkgrovedentistry.com and kiss your fears of the dentist goodbye.

Not every person realizes how many jobs are available in the dental industry. They think about being a dentist and maybe they decide that it’s too much work, so they forget about the dental industry and they go somewhere else. However, there’s a lot more to the dental industry than just being a dentist. There are many other jobs in the dental office and there are other jobs – like working in a lab making dentures and crowns, for example – that most people don’t even think about. If you want to be a dentist and are willing to put in the work, it can be a very lucrative and rewarding career. After schooling you’ll usually need to put in two or three years assisting another dentist before you can move out on your own, but many people feel that it’s worth the wait. If that’s not what you’re looking for, you could be a dental assistant. You’ll get on the job training and learn a lot. Some dental assistants move on to be dentists, and many of them are just very happy where they are. They get to help a lot of people and make their lives better.

If you’d rather work in the lab you could work as a manager. You’d be involved with the supplies and the equipment, and with making sure that the lab was always up and running so that the dentists could do their jobs better and more completely. This job isn’t always easy, but those people who are good at clinical medicine are generally a good fit for it. For some people, research is more their thing, and they can identify and set benchmarks when it comes to dental care. Cosmetic dentists are also important because more and more people are electing to have work done that isn’t required but that they feel makes them look better and improves the way that they feel about themselves. Cosmetic dentistry is the area that you’ll want to focus on if that’s the kind of thing that you’d like to do for people, and you can really make a difference in their lives while still enjoying a lucrative career.
